Back with some logos....

TMDC logo
Here, I created a logo for the Thurgood Marshall Democratic Club of Howard County, MD. This is a non-profit organization that educates and empowers African American Democratic voters in Howard County about political issues within the county and nationally. Their main focus is improving voter registration numbers in Howard County among African Americans.

With all of this information, I wanted capture what the organization does without making it too obvious. I chose to create a blue check mark to represent the democratic party and their voters. I also chose to use a sans-serif typeface to make the logo simple and easy to read at all font sizes. The client also requested that I super-impose an outline of Howard County. I gave the client many different designs but this is the one that made the cut.

Here are some other solutions that I came up with.

Ladies Love Literature logo

Next, I did a logo for a book club that my friend Gabriela started, Ladies Love Literature. She wanted me to do something clever with the L's and incorporate the color pink. Shout out to my LLL girls :-)

My portrait with Letters

Fall 2011
For my Typography class, I had to create a portrait of myself using only characters (letters and symbols). As you can see, I used J's for my hair and @'s for my eyes and earrings. I also used parentheses for much of this project.

What other letters can you find?

Re-packaging Project: Buttons!

For this project, I had to repackage a product that already exists but market it for another use. I repackaged buttons to be used as earring holders. (I can't tell you how many times I lose my earrings). My concept was to use a tin package for the buttons. For the theme of the piece, I was going for a 1950's feel.

Fun with Zebra Print: Baby Shower Poster

July 2011
I made the zebra stripes myself, which were somewhat tedious to create but I got it done. :-)

Here, I made a baby shower poster for a friend. The shower's colors were magenta and brown and she wanted zebra print somewhere in the poster. So, this is what I came up with...

Imaginary Non-Profit Organization Marketing Pieces

Spring 2011
For an assignment for my Words & Images class, I had to create bumper sticker and advertising poster for an imaginary non-profit organization. I created an organization called Inked, which catered to female high school students who wanted to pursue careers in writing.

I played off the ideas of ink and writing to create these marketing pieces.  In the poster, I used the names of different female writers and placed them within the ink splat. For the bumper sticker, I continued to incorporate the ink element (even in the Inked logotype).
